Investigation by Trading Standards or other Enforcing Authority

The Trading Standards Service have an obligation to ensure that the law regarding the sale of cigarettes, tobacco and related products. Test purchasing by juveniles is used in most areas.

Trading Standards staff may use underage children in any store having instructed them to purchase cigarettes or tobacco.

If an investigation is forthcoming from Trading Standards then under no circumstances should any questions be answered or statement made without first seeking legal advice.

The only information that can be given realistically is your name, address and details of business ownership.

If asked for the records that are referred to in these guidelines they should be produced for inspection upon request.
