There is legislation covering the products we sell and to whom they may be sold. All personnel will be trained so that they have a full understanding as to how they should act to stay within the law.
If you are unsure of the store’s procedure relating to any aspect relating to the sale of Age Restricted products like Tobacco and Cigarettes then ask your employer/manager for further explanation. If you are in any way concerned while selling these products then also check with your employer/manager.
Always ask the customer to prove their age if you think that they are under 25 with a proof of age card, photo driving licence or passport.
If still in any doubt, refuse to sell the product.
Always record a refused sale in the Refusal Log.
Take particular care when the store is busy. The normal procedure for Age Restricted sales must be followed how ever busy you are.
Be vigilant at all times. Remember to be calm and show understanding throughout the sale.
Understand that if you break the law, you, as well as your employer/manager may be liable to a fine on conviction. You also put you job at risk.
